- S = Specific outcome or behaviour
- M = Measurable
- A = Achievable
- R = Realistic in practice, given the resources available
- T = Timed. A specific start and end point … and milestones, perhaps.
- E = End result or purpose of the Specific target sought
- R = Reward …. or consequences of failure to achieve
